what is our scene, exactly
After a rocky start to the weekend, husband did manage to have a birthday and turn 52 years of age. We celebrated with family with wine and lasagna on Friday--a lovely, cool, back porch kind of evening. And then celebrated some more on Saturday with a birthday adventure to Louisville where we took in some great art and food. My plan in going there was to attend the Forecastle Festival, a fest of music, art, and environmental activism. But when we got there, it was baking hot and we just weren't sure it was our "scene". Lots of kids on skateboards. I have nothing against kids on skateboards, but questioned whether our taste in art and music coincided enough to warrant the price of admission. It was, perhaps, a fogey moment, but we decided that we'd rather take in some museums and architecture instead, and stay in the lovely and historic Brown hotel. We celebrated one more time on Sunday--a day of swimming and apple pie and pizza with elder son and his fiance. All in all, a nice birthday weekend.
