garden greens and blacks and blues

The garden again. It changes every day now. The delicate lilac and white Spring flowers are fading. The hot Summer flowers--zinnias, daylillies, bee balm, coreopsis, sage, sunflowers--are beginning to show their colors. I took this picture a week ago and the colors are already more riotous and lush. The sunflowers in the background, which you can't even see in this picture, are two feet taller and ready to bloom.

I was cursing a blue-streak on Saturday. While mowing, I hit a rock with the push mower. It flew back and hit my inner thigh and I now have a five inch diameter bruise. It hurt so much I thought I was going to be sick for a few minutes. I cursed the heat and bugs, I cursed my whole acre and a third of grass and gardens and tree-high weeds. I screamed that I was ready to sell the place and buy a condo. I'm feeling better now, so perhaps I won't sell today. And where would I find a condo which allows chickens? There are those times, however, when the beauty of the garden pales in comparison to the work involved.

When hanging up a shirt yesterday I accidentally hit the side of the closet with one end of the hanger and the other end pushed into my collar bone. REALLY HARD. I was flipping out. And I have a bruise now.

ouch. I feel old because instead of just getting a humongous bruise and getting on with life, I sit around worrying if it will turn into a blood clot or something. Partnerman (I'm capitalizing on your creativity with that word) keeps cautioning me to take it easy and watch for this and that. We never used to talk like this and now we discuss our health issues at parties.
